Tire Probably Cause of North Carolina Bus Crash That Left Four Dead and Over 40 Injured

September 26, 2016

A bus accident often times will result in a complex litigation. In many of these cases, there are numerous victims and defendants. This could result in a long delay before victims receive compensation for their loss. Family members may not have the funds to help through this difficult time, and banks don’t typically loan money in personal injury or wrongful death lawsuits. Litigation funding may be the best short-term relief during a financially difficult time.

Four people were killed and more than 40 others injured when a bus carrying a college football team, as well as some students from a nearby Christian school, crashed into an overpass in North Carolina. Killed were the bus driver, a 10-year-old boy, and two college students.

The bus was traveling to Fayetteville, North Carolina for a game when it appears that one of its front tires blew causing the bus to swerved, slam into a median guardrail, and then sideswipe a concrete bridge column, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol. Images from the scene showed the side wall of the bus almost sheared off and some of the injured lying on the ground. It is unclear at this time why the tire failed. The National Transportation Safety Board, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and North Carolina state police are investigating.

Few events in anyone’s life are as catastrophic as finding out that a loved one has been killed due to the negligence and carelessness of another person or entity (company). If someone else’s careless or reckless behavior caused your loved one’s death, you have the legal right to seek compensation for your loss.

The complexity of a bus accident injury or wrongful death claim such as this can take months, even years before a settlement is reached. If these families are experiencing financial duress to the point where help is needed, litigation funding may be an option.
