Rear Ending a Semi Trailer Causes a Car to Roll and Kills Two
There is no doubt about it. Freak accidents do happen, and when they do, people sometimes die.
This case was particularly tragic, as it involved the death of two young teenagers and the serious injury of another. The accident was an odd one, and no one quite seemed to know all the details, leaving the police to try and piece together what had happened after the fact.
“From what the police report indicated, the car involved, a Toyota Camry, rear ended the rear corner of a trailer being hauled by a semi. The car spun and then rolled, causing severe damage to the front passenger area. Both front seat passengers were dead at the scene and the backseat passenger was airlifted to the nearest hospital for immediate trauma care. While it was not an underride accident, it turned out to be every bit as fatal as one,” Monroe said.
While the police are not certain how this accident happened, they do have eyewitness reports that indicate the Camry was heading east when it smashed into the trailer being hauled by the 18-wheeler, as it was in the process of crossing the road. Whether or not driver inattention was a factor in this fatal crash remains to be seen.
From a legal point of view, there are likely two people involved in this case who may wish to file lawsuits; the dead passenger’s family may wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit, and the backseat survivor, might want to file a personal injury lawsuit to recover compensation for his injuries. If the 72-year-old driver of the semi was crossing the road without yielding to oncoming traffic, the dead driver’s family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit as well.
In any event, the possible wrongful death and/or the personal injury case, the plaintiffs might want to find out more about litigation funding. Pre-settlement funding would help them get money in the bank right away, and let them pay off all of their bills. “They would then just need to wait for justice, as nothing else is required of them, other than they fill out an application for the litigation funding company to assess. Once the legal finance company knows they stand a chance of winning in court, the funds are sent within 48 hours or less,” Monroe said.
Pre-settlement funding is ideal for the cash strapped plaintiff needing an emergency loan to tide them over until their case is heard in court, or goes to settlement and, if they lose their case in court, they still keep the lawsuit cash advance, without any further obligation to the litigation funding company. “There are a lot of benefits for plaintiffs needing legal funding, and we’d be pleased to answer any questions online or by phone,” Monroe said.
